The South Will Rise Again....

We had the opportunity to go to a living history day at our local Civil War park. It was the 149th anniversary of the Battle of Bull Run. This is the battle where General Jackson got his nickname Stonewall Jackson. We walked around the camp, watched the cannon and guns fire and learned about what life was like for these soldiers. It was a beautiful day and the park is really lovely. It was hard to imagine all the fighting and amazed us how close the battle lines were. Brothers really were fighting brothers.
The pictures show:
Lily hanging out around the Civil War medicines.
Statue of Jackson
Eva at the settlers store that would follow the soldiers and sell them goods
The bedroll and typical items a soldier carried
The tent they slept in. Remember that this is the South and it is hot, humid and buggy. I said a prayer of gratitude for my air conditioned car.
And me at the general store.
