Updates from the East

We have a contract! It is not the same house as previous post but this house is even better. The whole process was stressful and I hope that the inspections go smoothly and we can move in on closing date of July 30. Say a little prayer for us.

Fourth of July in the Nation's Capital.
We decided not to go into DC this year. I have heard it is a must do but not with little kids. You have to stake out your spot early in the morning, stay all day, and expect 3-4 hours to get home. (We live about 30 min from the Mall). With Eva being 2 we decided to wait for another year or two before we attempt that one.

We did however drive to Great Falls park for a day of hiking (really walking on dirt path), picnic and looking at the Potomac River crash over big boulders, we even waved at the sightseers in Maryland. It is a fun park with beautiful walk paths we walked up to Matildaville where there are ruins of an old town and Paul being the Eagle Scout that he is found some wild raspberry bushes for a snack. At the visitor center Paul, Jack and Lily all held a baby corn snake and an adult corn snake. Eva and I watched from a safe distance. I had that sick feeling I get around snakes and Eva kept saying "nice snake, hissssss".
After the park we came home for a swim and dinner then headed for the local firework show. When we pulled into the park it started to rain. But this did not stop the firework fans, I think they just are used to it raining a lot, the water slides next to the park didn't even close. The kids just kept on swimming and tubing in the rain. Well, as respectable Westerners we stayed in the car (okay, I packed all our rain gear so we were stuck in the car) and Eva got so fed up with it and was so tired that we just had to leave. Jack and Lily were good sports about it and we set off some of our own in the parking lot.
It was a fun day and I hope next year we make it to the fireworks. Anybody want to join us?

That would be incredible to see the fireworks at our state capitol... it might even beat Big Bear :) We will have to take you up on that offer, only in few years when our kids are older too!
